THREE MAJOR WRONG TYPES OF PRAYERS PEOPLE PRAY. Part 2
2) Showoff Prayers:
In luke 18:9-14 Jesus told
a parable about a Pharisee and a tax collector about how the Pharisee while
praying started counting his qualities to God, how righteous he is and how he
fast twice a week mean while the tax collector prayed in humility saying God I
know I am a sinner have mercy on me and the Jesus said his prayers was
justified rather than the one of the Pharisee and Jesus ended it up By saying
any man who humbles himself will be exalted and anyone who exalt himself will
be abased.
Many at time instead of
you to come to God with humility in prayers you start counting how righteous
you are and how God should bless you because you live a righteous life, this is
an act of showoff and don't forget the bible says our self righteousness is
like a filthy rag to God, If you do this then you are just like the Pharisee
who praised himself and you will be abased.
Some people when they are
in their homes they do not pray for more than a minute but when they are called
in public to pray that is when they quote Genesis to revelation in prayers and
many at times they do not even mean what they pray but they just say the words
to impress men.. This is another act of showoff and it is also an act of
hypocrisy.
Another set of people
praying showoff prayers are those people who pray and ask from God like it is
their right and God must do it for them instead of asking in humility if are
like this then you will be abased. Anyone who pray a showoff prayed is like unto
the Pharisee and will be abased while those who pray in humility is like the
tax collector and will be exalted.
After seeing this word
today I urge you to start changing you prayer approach and start praying in
humility not in showoff.
I pray the lord help you
to see the wrong areas of your prayers and help you change from them. In Jesus name,
